Inclusive Visioning and Educational Briefing

I contribute to early planning and briefing conversations with schools, architects and design teams, bringing an inclusive educational perspective to the project from the outset. Drawing on teaching experience and research, I help explore how the school’s educational vision, teaching practices and the needs of diverse learners can be considered within the development of the brief. Early collaboration helps establish a shared understanding of inclusion and identify opportunities before key design decisions are made.

Inclusive Furniture and Learning Space Consultation

Furniture plays an important role in how learning environments are used, experienced and adapted. I work alongside schools and design teams to consider how furniture selection can support flexibility, participation, choice and a range of learning and sensory needs. My contribution complements the expertise of architects and designers by bringing an educational and learner-focused perspective to decisions about how spaces will function in everyday practice.

Inclusive Learning Environment Review

I provide an inclusive educational lens to support consideration of environmental qualities such as lighting, acoustics, colour, spatial organisation and sensory experience. Working collaboratively with architects and specialist consultants, I help explore how these elements may influence participation, comfort, wellbeing and learning for a diverse range of students. My role is not to provide technical design advice, but to contribute evidence-informed educational and learner perspectives that can help inform design decisions.

Tailored Professional Learning and Pedagogical Support

I design and facilitate professional learning that helps educators build the knowledge, confidence and practical strategies needed to create inclusive learning experiences in contemporary learning environments. Workshops can be delivered as a single session, a series of sessions or through ongoing support across a school term. Professional learning is tailored to each school’s context and may explore the relationship between pedagogy, physical space and the diverse needs of learners.

School Community Engagement and Inclusive Learning Conversations

I support schools to build shared understanding of how contemporary learning environments can promote inclusion, participation and belonging. This may include contributing to community consultations, parent information sessions, school planning processes or stakeholder discussions. By translating research and educational practice into accessible and meaningful language, I help schools communicate the purpose and potential of contemporary learning environments while responding thoughtfully to community questions and perspectives.

Learning Environmenet and Evaluation Support

I facilitate focus groups and interviews with students, teachers, school leaders and other stakeholders, as well as structured check-ins with educators as they adapt to new learning environments. I analyse these experiences and provide clear reports that identify strengths, challenges and opportunities for improvement. The findings can inform ongoing professional learning, support effective implementation and guide future design and educational practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

I work with schools, educators, school leaders, architects and design teams seeking to create or support inclusive learning environments.

Yes. Every school and project is different, so services can be tailored to your context, priorities and goals. Support may involve a one-off consultation or workshop, a series of sessions, or ongoing involvement throughout a project or school term.

I contribute an educational and inclusive perspective that complements the technical and design expertise of architects and other specialist consultants. My role is to help connect educational vision, teaching practice and the experiences of diverse learners with the planning and design process. I do not provide technical architectural, acoustic or lighting advice; instead, I bring evidence-informed insight into how learning environments may be experienced and used in practice.

Yes. Inclusive learning environments are not defined by the age, size or layout of a building. The relationship between physical space, teaching practice and learner needs is important in every school setting. Whether your school has traditional classrooms, contemporary flexible spaces or a combination of both, I can help identify practical opportunities and tailor support to your context and goals.

Outputs will be tailored to the purpose and scope of the engagement. Depending on the service, these may include professional learning resources, a summary of key insights, evidence-informed considerations, suggested next steps or a written report. For evaluation projects, reports may highlight key themes, strengths, challenges and opportunities to inform future design and educational practice. Agreed outputs will be clearly outlined before the work begins.
